and here is another one of my favorite parts of scripture, the baptism of Jesus. matthew 3.13-17
jesus walks up to john (remember, the last time they were in the same room they were unborn and john jumped in the womb!) So he sees Jesus coming, some 30 years later... and john says, ok thats it, you need to baptize me. switch places! but jesus says no... you are meant to do this. the message says
"Do it. God's work, putting things right all these centuries, is coming together right now in this baptism."
hmm... this got me thinking. john and Jesus were known to God for a LONG time... this was part of God's plan. which is so cool, that when the time came John was able to baptize jesus so he could start his ministry... which we will get to tomorrow. When looking at OT prophesy earlier in these devo's i mentioned God's plan for His son. but here we see an intricate plan involving a person, like you and I.
so i read scripture and see that.. God has a plan for me.
God tells us that we all have a part to play, to be a hero and He has known it since the beginning of time. God has given us tasks and encounters, and what matters is what we will do with it... reminds me of this great quote from the best story ever told...
what matters is what we do in this life... john baptized jesus and kept preaching, will all his might until he was put to death.
what will you do today?
