In the Desert.

So Jesus has just been baptized... and in an epic way. so lets head back to the church for the potluck and volleyball. hmmm... no?

Nope. Not Jesus' style. He goes into the desert to pray and fast(stop eating so he can focus on God)

40 days worth of prayer and fasting. intense.

Think about this, he goes into the desert and just kinda hangs out. We dont know what he was doing other than praying. FOR 40 DAYS without food, only water. i want to say this, and if i were saying out loud i would say it sternly; THIS IS HOW IMPORTANT JESUS CALLING AND MISSION WERE ON THIS EARTH. HE WAS SERIOUS ABOUT IT.

He knew God was going to use him for unbelievably miraculous things, He also knew that he had to be above reproach and without sin to accomplish these things. So he did not just start without thinking, jump in and figure it out later. he prayed, prayed some more, then prayed again.

I say this to challenge you all. WHY oh why do we do things without praying? try to share the gospel with someone without praying, do our jobs without praying? be good friends without praying. We lean on our own strength and understanding to live life when God is right there waiting for us to talk to him about whats happening.

PRAY MORE. trust me; Jesus knew what was important, an intimate relationship with his father, and we will see that on Monday when we see him being tempted in the desert by satan.

pray more.
